Social and Emotional Skills at Littlepips Preschool
At Littlepips Preschool, we are dedicated to fostering inclusive early year education, focusing on the development of crucial social and emotional skills. Explore how we create a nurturing environment where children thrive.

Encouraging Social Interaction
At Littlepips, we actively encourage social interaction, particularly during breakfast, lunch, and snack times. We believe these moments provide valuable opportunities for language development and the sharing of personal experiences.
We promote sharing and taking turns through positive reinforcement. Children are praised when they demonstrate good listening skills, attentiveness, and the ability to take turns with toys, materials, and tools. Circle time activities are incorporated, where children introduce themselves and practice greeting each other. Furthermore, we guide children in making positive choices when interacting and playing together.

Supporting Emotional Growth
We actively promote and encourage children to share their feelings through the use of emotional props, visuals, and songs. We ensure that children understand their feelings. For example, if a child is upset because their mummy has left, we acknowledge that they feel sad and reassure them that it is okay to feel that way. We then explain that mummy will return after she has completed her task, encouraging the child to play with their friends as a means of distraction.

A Safe and Supportive Environment
At Littlepips Preschool, we cultivate a secure and supportive environment where children feel comfortable expressing their emotions and forming meaningful relationships.
